Bridging climate science, community development, and financial resilience to build a safer and fairer world..... Dr. Deepthi Marathayil is a multidisciplinary climate scientist whose experience spans oceanographic research, atmospheric science, sustainable finance, community development, and women‑led entrepreneurship. Her professional journey began in the Indian Ocean, where she worked at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, after completing her Master’s in Oceanography. During this time, she participated in major research expeditions—including oceanographic cruises crossing the Equator—to collect essential atmosphere–ocean datasets for climate and metocean studies. These field experiences grounded her scientific expertise in real‑world environmental observation and data analysis. Her pursuit of deeper climate understanding led her to the United Kingdom, where she completed a Ph.D. in Meteorology, specialising in atmosphere–ocean interactions and climate variability. This strong scientific foundation now underpins her broader work connecting climate risks to societal, financial, and community‑level outcomes. Climate & Financial Sector Integration Today, Dr. Marathayil balances family and career while working within the banking sector, where her financial understanding and exposure to fund‑management processes help strengthen how climate intelligence is embedded into financial decision‑making. She supports market stakeholders in understanding how environmental and global risks translate into financial risks—ensuring real climate data informs lending practices, investment strategies, and long‑term resilience planning. Her unique combination of oceanographic field experience and financial‑sector knowledge enables her to contribute to institutional stability and community resilience through science‑based risk frameworks. Climate Innovation & Blue Economy Development Alongside her professional role in banking, she contributes to TERAOM as a GeoData & Climate Change Analyst, where she works on renewable energy concepts, metocean analytics, coastal‑resilience insights, and sustainable blue‑economy development. Her work connects scientific insight with practical innovation for community‑focused climate solutions. Community Engagement, Translation & Interpretation Dr. Marathayil is also an English Translator and Interpreter in Oxfordshire, providing face‑to‑face, telephone, and video interpretation, translation and transcription, and localisation services. Her work supports families, public‑sector services, and multicultural communities in accessing safe, accurate, and inclusive communication. She has also served as a Library Assistant and contributed to various community‑support roles, helping families integrate, build confidence, and access essential services. Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Practices & Mentoring In addition to her scientific and linguistic work, Dr. Marathayil established a community‑based catering business, designed around eco‑friendly products and sustainable operational practices. As a self‑employed entrepreneur, she has created a self‑sustaining business model and used her experience to mentor other families in: setting up their own small businesses, developing compliant and professional profiles, guiding them on safe and legal documentation, teaching methodology and procedures for business setup, and supporting them in achieving proper food hygiene ratings and operational standards. Her work has empowered multiple families—especially women—to build independent livelihoods and contribute to their communities. Advocacy for Women in Science & Leadership Dr. Marathayil is a strong advocate for women in science, business, and leadership. Inspired by her own journey across continents and disciplines, she champions visibility, equity, and resilience, ensuring more women can shape the future of climate science, entrepreneurship, and global decision‑making.

Descubrir, crear y mostrar nuevas posibilidades.

I'm obsessed with reality, I like to observe it, analyze it and transfer it to a digital medium (once magnetic). I strongly think that reality is a feeling, first of all.

I am passionate about theater, I have devoted over 7 years of my free time to this hobby and I have grown playing over 6 plays on independent theater stages. I am also passionate about motorcycling. Got my driving license a year ago and enjoyed every minute of the process of acquiring a new skill, taking an exam, learning how to ride.
