A journey from the oceans to the financial world — and why the future depends on bringing them together. I grew up fascinated by the natural world (Kerala, India) — by the oceans, the monsoons, and the invisible forces that move our climate. That curiosity eventually became a calling, leading me into oceanography and then a Ph.D. in Meteorology (Reading, UK), where I immersed myself in the science of weather and climate systems. My early research life was spent at the CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography, studying ocean processes and collecting data that revealed how sensitive — and how powerful — our planet’s systems truly are. I learned to read the oceans the way others read financial charts: patterns, cycles, warning signs. But something troubled me. Even as scientists warned of rising risks, the world’s most influential decisions — especially financial ones — were still being made as if the climate crisis were a distant possibility, not a lived reality. So my journey took an unexpected turn. I stepped into the financial world, joining Lloyds Banking Group, where today I serve as a Relationship Manager. Suddenly, I could see the gap from the inside: financial systems were overflowing with data, models, and risk frameworks… but they were missing the most important dataset of all — the climate data I had spent my life working with. In parallel, I continued my scientific and climate‑innovation work at TERAOM as a GeoData & Climate Change Analyst, supporting renewable energy concepts, blue‑economy resilience, and community‑focused climate solution Standing at this intersection — between climate science and finance — I found my purpose. I realised that the world does not suffer from a climate knowledge gap. It suffers from a climate integration gap. And this became the heart of my mission: To make climate intelligence as fundamental to global finance as credit scores, interest rates, or risk assessments. Because climate change is not an environmental problem alone — it is a financial stability problem, a community resilience problem, a human story.
