Why you should listen

Keolu Fox is cofounder of the Native BioData Consortium, a nonprofit research institute led by Indigenous scientists and tribal members. He is also a professor at the University of California San Diego, where he is cofounder and codirector of the UC San Diego Indigenous Futures Institute. The first Kānaka Maoli to receive a doctorate in genome sciences, his work focuses on the connection between data as a resource and the emerging value of genomic health data from Indigenous communities. He is a TED Fellow. At TED2024, he spoke alongside professional surfer and scientist Cliff Kapono.
