About Keolu
Bio
Keolu Fox is cofounder of the Native BioData Consortium, a nonprofit research institute led by Indigenous scientists and tribal members. He is also an assistant professor at the University of California San Diego, where he is cofounder and codirector of the UCSD Indigenous Futures Institute. The first Kānaka Maoli to receive a doctorate in genome sciences, his work focuses on the connection between data as a resource and the emerging value of genomic health data from Indigenous communities. He is a TED Fellow. At TED2024, he will be speaking alongside professional surfer and scientist Cliff Kapono.
