The TED story

I started, like everyone else in 2006, by watching Sir Ken Robinson’s talk on why we must nurture creativity in students. Eight years later, I organized my first TEDxYouth conference at the request of two of my IB students. I’ve transcribed and translated TED and TEDx talks as well as TED-Ed videos. The year when most of us were locked down by Covid, I co-hosted and attended TED Circles online. In 2018, I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to attend TEDWomen in Palm Springs, where I met Chris Anderson as well as Marian Wright Edelman, Dolores Huerta and Tarana Burke, and shared a late-night limo with Lucy Cooke. One highlight was the video call I made to my TEDxJIS student team back in Jakarta, where they were having a lunchtime meeting at school while I was attending the evening welcome party. I am continuing to help students organize TEDx conferences in the international schools where I work. Students are creative, all right – not to mention passionate, intelligent, collaborative, hard-working and fun-loving. We adults just have to keep nurturing all these traits in them.
