Making change where I can, through whatever means are available. That has looked different at different points: wearing a costume made from beach-collected plastic bags to push people to think about single-use plastic, founding a student TEDx event to give ideas a stage, making a film about AI companionship and adolescent loneliness that won a national prize, or spearheading a GPA transparency proposal through my school's student council that resulted in real policy change. The through-line is not a single issue. It is the belief that if something is broken or missing, and you have the tools to do something about it, waiting for someone else to act is a choice you are making.
I care about socio-political science, systems thinking, and the structural reasons why change is hard. I care about film and live events as formats because they reach people that papers and policies do not. I care about intergenerational responsibility, about what my generation is inheriting and what we are going to hand forward. The theme of our incoming TEDx event, "What We Leave Behind," reflects these ideas.
