TEDxEastgateStreet Gloucester is proud to present Gloucester’s first-ever TEDx event, taking place on 20th September at Gloucester Guildhall. This year’s theme, MERGE: Where Stories Meet, Communities Grow, explores how creativity, leadership, identity, innovation, and human connection come together to shape stronger communities. Through powerful talks, performances, and shared conversation, the evening will spotlight ideas rooted in Gloucester and beyond, showing how individual stories can meet to form something bigger. Organised and delivered entirely by a team of young people aged 18–35 from the CHISPA collective, TEDxEastgateStreet Gloucester brings a globally recognised platform to the city for the very first time. The team has led every aspect of the event, from speaker development and creative direction to outreach, production, marketing, and live delivery. Designed as an intentionally intimate experience rather than a large conference, TEDxEastgateStreet is a space where meaningful conversations happen naturally in the moments between talks, creating opportunities for genuine connection, reflection, and inspiration. Come and be part of the first TEDx event in Gloucester’s history. Please note: this event will be recorded. Tickets and full event information can be found at tedx-eastgate-street.com, by following @tedxeastgate on Instagram, or by searching “TEDx Eastgate Street: Merge” on the Gloucester Guildhall website. About TEDx: TEDx events are independently organised, community-driven experiences that bring people together to share ideas, inspire innovation, and spark meaningful conversations.

  • Ian Evans

    Producer

After a career that took him from flying fast-jet fighters to managing major projects across industries and continents, he now moves more slowly, through the erased sensory history of working communities. Ian is the originator of the Nose Witness methodology: a community practice for recovering smell-memories before they vanish, capturing shared experiences and building understanding across generations and cultures. He believes heritage has long been designed for the dominant senses of sight and sound, while the people defined by smell have been systematically forgotten. His work asks a simple, radical question: what happens when we design from smell first? A graduate of the Arts Council's Future Producers programme, Ian will deliver his TEDx talk in the city he calls home - Gloucester.
