• Ejiro Okotie

  MA Development Studies student (2019-2020), IDS

  Ejiro Sharon Okotie is a 2019 Chevening scholar, and Masters holder in Development Studies, focusing on gender and sexuality from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), at the University of Sussex, UK. She sits on the board of the Pan African Network of Youth with Disabilities (PANYD). A 2015 Mandela Washington Fellow of the Young Africa Leaders Initiative Programme (YALI). As the founder of the Hope Inspired Foundation for Women and Youth, an NGO in Nigeria, Ejiro works passionately to promote inclusive development, empower women and youth particularly those with disabilities for productive living and equal participation in society. As a mentor, skilled trainer and lifelong learner, she welcomes the opportunity to connect with people through education and professional development experiences.

• Jody Aked

  Director | Designer of Happiness, Friday Pulse; PhD Development Studies (2012-2018), IDS

  Dr Jody Aked has spent the last seventeen years leading and facilitating complex social change processes within workplaces, communities, supply chains and whole ecosystems. As a Director of an innovative start-up, with a PhD from Institute of Development Studies, she has worked across a varied portfolio of clients – indigenous communities, NGOs, UN agencies, global corporates – to design rewarding and accountable processes that help networks of people achieve their objectives. Jody is passionate about building capacity for complexity thinking to surface actionable insights towards a low carbon, high wellbeing future.

• Sahara Basnet

  MA Gender and Development Studies student (2019-2020), IDS

  Sahara Basnet is a development practitioner with five years of professional experience in program management, research & data analysis, and communications on topics related to gender and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene). She is also the co-founder of Asha; a gender and MHM (menstrual hygiene management) in schools social initiative based in Nepal. She recently completed her degree in Master of Arts in Gender and Development at the Institute of Development Studies.

• Terry Cannon

  Research Fellow, IDS

  Terry Cannon has been teaching and researching in development studies for many years, and until 2009 was Reader in Development Studies at the University of Greenwich and Principal Scientist at the Natural Resources Institute (NRI at University of Greenwich). Before that, he taught rural development at the Institute for Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague. His background discipline is geography, with additional qualifications in economics and politics. At IDS he is teaching in the MSc Climate Change, Development and Policy. He also teaches at King’s College London (on both development studies and on climate change and disaster vulnerability), in the MSc Disaster Management at University of Copenhagen and lectures annually at Free University Brussels and KU Leuven (Belgium).
