His goal is to do some small part to make sure that the future of the human social endeavor benefits from hard-won lessons. He believes that education is probably the only true social silver bullet. It is negatively correlated with virtually all-pervasive social ills, from poverty and crime to pollution. As an educator and as a citizen he works to continue the American tradition of universal education and civic engagement. His specialties are Social Justice, The Ethics of the democratic (small d) Political Process, health care and energy policy.
