Sarah J. Doherty is a senior research scientist and associate professor at the University of Washington, where she is program director of the Marine Cloud Brightening research program.

Specializing in atmospheric particles and their effects on clouds and climate, Sarah J. Doherty has participated in multiple field studies measuring pollution plumes around the world. She also spent a year in Antarctica running experiments to understand the ozone hole and has held leading roles in multiple scientific assessments, including the Fourth US National Climate Assessment and the 2018 and 2022 United Nations/World Meteorological Organization Scientific Assessments of Ozone Depletion.
