A professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, he has led large-scale studies providing deeper insights into human social behavior and immunity, as well as developing new ways to understand and predict real-life and digital contagion. He has contributed scientific insights to government and health agencies, and collaborated on research with organizations including the BBC and the Premier League. In 2023, he was awarded the Adams Prize — one of the most prestigious prizes in mathematics — for his work on epidemiological methods. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, Financial Times, Scientific American and Wired, among others, and he has contributed to several documentaries, including BBC Horizon.
