Bio
I was born and raised in Brazil in a culturally diverse environment, having been alphabetised in both English and Portuguese, as well as spending most of my school years in an international school. I have multiple experiences living abroad in countries like United States, Italy, Australia and United Kingdom and have worked previously as an English tutor. I have always been passionate about languages and have always interacted with people of numerous different backgrounds, learning to adapt to and appreciate different cultures.
I'm passionate about
I'm passionate about literature, languages and culture. It will always astonish me how putting common words in the right order can create magic. Reading a book can transport you to whole new worlds, and that is possible only with the use of language.
I am also passionate about human behaviour, and anything that allows me to observe and understand it a bit more, be it Psychology in a more scientific manner, or arts and music, in a more emotional way.
An idea worth spreading
The concept of empathy. There is very little that could be not be solved in the world if only people could learn to put themselves in each other's shoes. I once heard a great phrase that said, "The secret to a perfectly fair negotiation is not knowing which side you're on". How different the world could be! Let's spread that idea.

The TED story
For the last 5 years I have been travelling and living in different countries, and it occured to me recently that I could use my passion for languages and culture and make a living out of it something I loved. Therefore I have started doing translation jobs, and I'm looking to expand my experience and my skills with volunteer work as well. The possibility of contributing with an organisation that I already admire is just the perfect scenario.
Things you might not know
Thinking outside the box. I guess in everyday life is easy to keep to a routine, and some social norms encourage us to keep our inovative thoughts to ourselves, but inside the mind is always at work, and it can go to places we never even knew possible. My challenge to myself is to speak up more and act on those thoughts whenever possible.
