I am a native Polish speaker. obtained a BA degree in English Studies at the University of Warsaw (Poland) in 2015. During my studies I participated in numerous English into Polish translation workshops and classes, earning my teachers' praise for the quality of my work. My translation experience outside of the university started when I began my cooperation with Smilemundo, a NGO based in Barcelona, Spain, but founded by a Polish woman, Aleksandra Zemke. I contributed to the translation of Smilemundo's website from English into Polish, though the launch of the Polish version of the website has been postponed. Later, I was again contacted by Aleksandra to help translate their massively successful educational game, SmileUrbo, from English into Polish. I also translated an additional chapter about negotiations from Polish into English. I work with a Polish author and journalist, Joanna Radosz. I recently translated one of her short stories about motorcycle speedway from Polish into English. Recently I have also started a website that serves as my portfolio, called the Obscure Translation Project (obscuretranslationproject.com). There, I aim to provide translations in the Polish-English language pair of my favorite books, novels, or articles where they haven't been officially translated. As for my experience with the English language as such, I have been living in the United States since October 2016, which gives me continuous exposure to the language, culture and all the other facets that constitute a competent and meaningful translation. Aside from that, while still in college in Poland, I taught English to adults at various proficiency levels at a private language school.

Translation. I've always loved the idea of bringing worlds together, and when I learned English well enough to understand most things, a whole new world opened for me. That's why I believe translation is so important for people who aren't able to learn languages, especially English (which I believe is the Latin of today's world). They need access to all the invaluable resources which are often created primarily in English.

Recycling and general environment-consciousness. I believe that all causes out there are important, but we won't be able to enjoy freedom of speech, emancipation of women or political freedoms if our home, Earth, is dying.
