Bio

Hi! I'm a super nerd Philology and Maths student. I know it's a weird combo, but I've always wanted to get a solid background on the two areas of knowledge I love the most. Recently the frustration due to all the injustices around the planet has started to move me to do something, and help society to progress in any way I can. Maybe translation is a good way of doing this by providing information and education, which I think are ultimately the boosters of progress and that an uneducated society goes nowhere. I firmly believe in the beautiful sentiments that are deep in the human heart, and that in the long run they will triumph over the tyranny and ignorance propagated by individuals possessed by hatred. Leaving all the society stuff aside, I spend most of my day reading about linguistics and the processes that occurred, and still are occurring, that lead to the acquisition of language by the human brain, playing the guitar, playing basketball terribly, assisting to college, and I'm always engaged in a thorough reading of some Latin American novel (currently "La Vorágine", by José Eustasio Rivera). Among the greatest projects I want to complete during my lifetime are writing several novels, preferably focused on the social issues that have surrounded my country during centuries, and learning how to play the most challenging classical guitar works ever composed. Well, that's the most important. I wish you an excellent day!

I'm passionate about

Well, I've already mentioned some of my passions in the Bio section, but a quick list would be: - Linguistics - Psychology - Language acquisition - Literature - History (specially Latin American history) - Guitars , and last but not least - Mathematics

An idea worth spreading

The neural processes that are involved in the acquisition of language by the human brain could be used in the future to our advantage, by creating powerful language learning methods that "hack" our brain. Though, it may be decades or centuries before this occurs effectively.

Areas of expertise

The TED story

Newbie around here. I'm currently interested in translating some talks or videos that I consider that provide knowledge and progress to society.
