An idea worth spreading
I must say that as a faithful disciple of Prof. Dr. Ana Maria Primavesi, who created the Ecological Management of the Tropical Soil, I’m very enthusiastic about organic ecological farming, which is a perfectly economically viable way of developing agricultural projects in the tropics, although the climate here is always hard on the soil because of the high temperatures and heavy rains that can cause a lot of damage if the soil isn’t properly protected against these inhospitable climate conditions.
It’s only a matter of making the decision of using the proper ecological practices to avoid the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers and hormones and consequently prevent erosion, water resources contamination and promote the production of healthy agricultural and animal products.
Areas of expertise
Agriculture, Agroecology, Animal Science, Dairy cattle production, Organic farming
The TED story
I’m Brazilian and I’m an English/Portuguese translator. I’ve acquired knowledge of the English language by studying English in Brazil, living in the USA for a few years and being an eager reader of books in English.
I have the intention of dedicating a substantial part of my time to this new profession, although I don’t have much experience with professional translation yet.
In our farm, I have a home office with a computer connected to the internet, and since I decided to follow this translation road, I understood CAT tools are very important, so I downloaded OmegaT and already have some practice with it.
I have a degree in Zootecnia, and for the past ten years I’ve worked with Organic Farming and Agroecology Management, and since I’ve acquired a lot of experience in these fields, I’ve been doing translations in these areas.
I must say I'm a big fan of TED videos, and I'd be very proud to be able to help and be a part of the TED project.
