Bio

Peter Douskalis is an educator in the public schools of the Department of Education of New York City where he teaches music and is the Director of Guitar Studies and Advanced Placement Music Theory studies at the Music Institute of Edward R Murrow High School. He also teaches private guitar lessons and music theory lessons. He has presented his philosophies of teaching music at conferences and has published an article about multicultural music education curriculum in the journal of the International Society for Music Education 30th World Conference Proceedings. He is the guitarist and assistant music director of the Greek music ensemble "Synolon" by Pericles Kanaris in New York City. He also performs live american rock and jazz in various groups. Peter is a member of the non for profit humanitarian organization Olympism For Humanity, Alliance (O4H). He is a music representative, program manager, camera man, video editor, and interpreter. He is cofounder of the program Accessible Cypriot Education (ACE) whose goal is to improve rural schools in Cyprus. He also served as the President of the New York City Chapter of the music program Guitars Not Guns. GNG is a non-for-profit music program that offers free guitars and guitar lessons to underprivileged and 'at-risk' children.
