About Elisa

I am a…

Foodie, Job-seeker, Parent

Bio

I am Elisa, I am almost 33 (in 2 days), and I live in Rome. I'm a wife and a mum (of a 1 year old little princess) and at present I am a proof-reader for a very small Italian publishing house, although the job of my dreams is to become a translator, with dusty dictionaries and glasses on. I like rock and classical music, I like eating (but not cooking) and I am very very passionate about soccer, the most popular sport in Italy. My favorite team is Juventus FC.

I'm passionate about

I'm passionate about music and history, especially medieval one. I'm also interested in medical science and researches about severe diseases. More, I pay much attention in foreign policy.

An idea worth spreading

I would like to spread the idea of tolerance: we live in a very difficult historical period, and the "other" is always seen as bad. I live in Italy, very close to the Middle-East, I live in Rome, the center of Christianity, and I'm worried about terrorism. But there are millions of good Islamic people as scared as me, and I would like my fellow citizens to understand.

The TED story

I met TED at Christmas time, while I was reading a nice Italian blog, "correttore di bozze", almost entirely addressed to proof-readers like me. The writer is a TED translator too, and in that post she was explaining the importance of translating for free, as a volunteer.

Things you might not know

People don't know I'm good at singing and writing. I always sing for myself and my little daughter (at 1, she is learning almost all the songs by Queen and Muse) and I write my thoughts and reflections quite often; obviously nobody can read them, nor my husband.
