Bio

Bilingual Arabic–English translator and subtitler based in Giza, Egypt. Volunteer Linguist with the TED Open Translation Project, working to make ideas accessible to Arabic-speaking audiences worldwide. Background in international customer experience across EU and UAE markets. Passionate about language, storytelling, and the power of translation to connect cultures.

I'm passionate about

Languages, literary translation, media localization, and the art of preserving a speaker's voice across cultures. I believe that a great translation is invisible — the reader should feel the original, not the effort behind it. When I'm not translating, I'm drawing — mostly dark ink illustrations, anatomy, and the occasional whale.

An idea worth spreading

That language is not just communication — it is identity. Every idea translated into Arabic reaches millions of people who deserve to access knowledge in the language closest to their hearts.

Areas of expertise

Arabic-English translation, content localization, cultural adaptation, literary translation, media subtitling, RTL formatting

The TED story

I joined the TED Open Translation Project because I believe Arabic speakers deserve access to the world's best ideas in their own language. As a bilingual translator, I want to bridge the gap between global knowledge and Arabic-speaking audiences — one talk at a time.

Things you might not know

Capturing tone and voice in translation — making Arabic feel like the original was written in Arabic, not converted from English. Also drawing whales and anime.
