I’m from Syracuse, in Sicily. For a time I lived in Hartford, Connecticut, where I studied English as a second language, and I still think of that experience whenever I read a translation: I know what it is like to learn a language while living in it. Back in Italy I studied Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome. I completed my degree in 1996 with a research thesis funded by the European Union (PRO.DOCS.). I followed by several years as “Cultore della Materia” at the Faculty of Psychology of the same university. I joined the Open Translation Project in 2015 and I have been a Language Supervisor since 2022. I have taken part in the TED Translators marathons, finishing fourth twice. What I love most about this community is the care we put into making an idea travel from one language to another. Back in Italy, I studied Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome, where I completed my Master’s degree with a research thesis funded by the European Union (PRO.DOCS., 1996). From 1997 to 2005, I worked as an assistant professor at Sapienza University of Rome, Faculty of Psychology.

My favorite TED story is : Don't ask where I'm from, ask where I'm local, by Taiye Selasi. After watching this TED Talk in 2015, I have joined the OTP (Open Translation Project).
