Nicole D'Alessandro

I am a native Italian speaker with a deep passion for languages, cultures, and the power of communication. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Language Mediation and a Master’s degree in Translation, specializing in English and Portuguese, which I speak and write fluently. From a young age, I have been fascinated by how language shapes understanding and connects people across the world. I am particularly interested in making knowledge and ideas accessible to everyone, regardless of language or background. I see subtitling and translation as powerful tools to bridge cultural gaps and help ideas travel beyond borders. This is why I am excited about the possibility of contributing to the TED Translators program. Beyond translation, I enjoy exploring audiovisual media and studying how accessibility can transform the way people experience content. I believe that sharing knowledge and stories across languages is not only a professional interest but also a personal mission: to foster understanding, curiosity, and connection among people from different walks of life. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the TED community, making talks accessible and meaningful for global audiences, and helping ideas reach as many people as possible.

I believe that knowledge, ideas, and stories should be accessible to everyone, no matter their language or background. Every time we make content understandable across cultures, we open doors to new perspectives, empathy, and connection. Translation and subtitling are more than just words on a page or screen, they are bridges that allow ideas to travel, inspire, and spark meaningful change in people’s lives. Sharing knowledge across languages is, in my view, one of the most powerful ways to create a more inclusive and connected world. It allows voices that might otherwise go unheard to reach global audiences, and it helps build understanding between people from different walks of life. I am passionate about this idea and excited by the possibility of contributing to a world where ideas truly know no borders.
