Dr. Ruth Z. Yuste-Alonso is an educator, scholar, and translator with 15+ years of international teaching experience. She is an Assistant Professor of Spanish & Hispanic Studies in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Stetson University where she teaches courses on Spanish language, literatures, and (visual) cultures for the Spanish Program. Her work bridges her love for languages and cultures with visual culture, with a particular emphasis on contemporary cinema. Her recent work explores cultural representations of disability and aging in Spanish film; the symbolic power of food in shaping national, regional, and insular identities; and the role of horror as a creative framework to examine complex social issues in today’s unsettling times.
