About Tomás

I am a…

Activist, Educator/Teacher, Writer/Editor

Bio

Translator and subtitler based in Rosario, Argentina, with a soft spot for audiovisual content and everything that lives between languages. I hold a degree in translation and I'm currently deep into an Advanced Diploma in Audiovisual Translation at the National University of Rosario (basically living and breathing subtitles at the moment). I joined the TED Translators community because I genuinely believe good subtitles can change how someone experiences an idea… and I want to be part of that for Spanish-speaking audiences across Latin America.

I'm passionate about

Audiovisual translation, gaming, language and culture, storytelling, making knowledge accessible across language barriers, and the craft of finding the perfect word.

An idea worth spreading

A great translation isn't invisible, it's a creative act in its own right. Every subtitle, every word choice, every cultural adaptation is a decision made by a human who deeply understands both languages. Translators don't erase themselves; they bridge people.

The TED story

I discovered the TED Translators program while searching for meaningful ways to build my career in audiovisual translation. The idea of contributing subtitles to talks that have the power to inspire and educate millions of Spanish speakers immediately resonated with me. TED represents exactly the kind of work I want to do — precise, culturally aware, and impactful.

Things you might not know

Noticing details others scroll past: a subtitle that's slightly off, a word that doesn't quite fit the scene, the moment a dialogue loses its rhythm. It's a blessing and a curse.
