Bio
Hi! I'm Nicolás Piccinini, a 23-year-old from Córdoba City, a vibrant city nestled in the heart of Argentina. I'm currently pursuing a degree in English-Spanish Translation at the National University of Córdoba (UNC). In addition to my studies, I work as an English teacher for primary school students and offer private language tutoring. I recently joined the TED subtitling community in December 2024.
I believe TED Talks are an incredible source of insights on a wide range of topics. By subtitling these talks, we can ensure that their message reaches a global audience. I'm here to contribute to this mission: to bridge cultural barriers, empower individuals worldwide to understand these inspiring speakers, and ultimately enable them to use this knowledge to improve their communities and enhance their lives
I'm passionate about
I'm deeply passionate about languages, global cultures, geography, and politics. These passions have profoundly shaped who I am. I believe that self-discovery often involves exploring your interests and diving deep into what fascinates you. I'm confident that you'll uncover amazing things along the way.
An idea worth spreading
Instead of viewing languages as barriers, we should recognize them as unique windows into the world. By helping communities decode these windows, we're not just translating words – we're building bridges of understanding. Perhaps, by shifting our focus from erecting walls to constructing these bridges, we can foster lasting and meaningful change
The TED story
Do I have a TED worthy story? I'm not sure. I'm constantly inspired by the incredible work of others – psychologists transforming lives in remote communities, innovators changing the world through their programs. Compared to them, my own experiences may seem ordinary.
However, I believe my contribution lies in helping those with truly impactful stories share their message with the world. By providing subtitles, I can help bridge language barriers and ensure these powerful narratives reach a global audience.
I grew up in a small town, surrounded by nature and a sense of freedom. This undoubtedly shaped my personality. Adapting to city life presented its challenges, but I eventually came to appreciate the vibrancy of urban living.
Even now, I find solace in returning to the mountains, where I can simply walk along a river and reconnect with nature. I am deeply grateful for these experiences, recognizing that access to such tranquility is a privilege not afforded to everyone.
This gratitude has fueled my desire to contribute to the world in a meaningful way. By leveraging my skills in languages, I hope to make a positive impact, even if it's through something as seemingly small as subtitling.
Ultimately, I believe that our lives are a tapestry woven from countless threads – experiences, passions, dreams, and goals. And I'm perfectly content with that
Things you might not know
Well, I believe I'm good at writing (no way!!!)Writing is a significant part of my life. It's a way for me to explore new worlds, understand my emotions during both challenging and joyful times, and gain deeper insights into myself. I've found that expressing myself in different languages provides unique perspectives on my own feelings, which is a truly fascinating aspect of language.
