Ethan Price

Ethan is a native speaker of Spanish, French, and English who believes education is the greatest equalizer and language is the bridge to reach it. He founded MySpanishClub, a bilingual learning platform with a broad and continually expanding user base, where he creates and curates free academic content in Spanish and English to support students from diverse backgrounds. Ethan translates TED Talks in all three of his native languages, making global ideas accessible across cultures. He conducts bilingual language acquisition research at UC Irvine and co-authored a chapter on Acute Compartment Syndrome through UCLA’s Department of Vascular Surgery. His writing has been published in the California Association for Bilingual Education’s Multilingual Educator and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica’s Albricias Magazine, where he won first prize for Spanish prose. He was also recognized by the John Locke Institute for academic writing. Whether tutoring, translating, or building educational resources, Ethan focuses on using language to create opportunity and inclusion.

I believe education can change lives, and language is the bridge that connects people to those opportunities. As a native speaker and trilingual tutor, translator, and creator, I want to help other students feel seen and supported in every language they speak. Language makes learning personal, and that’s where real understanding begins. When learning reflects who we are, it becomes a source of confidence and growth, not something that holds us back.

Understanding is power, and inclusive education is the key that unlocks it. When we embrace multilingualism and create classrooms that value all cultures, we open doors for every student. Supporting language diversity from the start builds empathy, breaks down barriers, and prepares us to connect and collaborate in a global world.

My TED journey started at an afterschool learning center where I volunteer teaching ESL kids. I wanted to find better ways to connect and help them really learn. I had used TED Talks in school but noticed many were not available in Spanish. That led me to TED’s translation community, where I found a way to bring powerful ideas to students like mine and in the languages they know best. For me, it's about breaking down language barriers so learning feels real and within reach for everyone.

People don’t know that Spanish is actually my first language. I learned to read in Spanish and French before I could even read in English. That early start shaped how I think about language, not just as words, but as keys to culture and identity. It’s why I’m so driven to create spaces where all students feel seen and supported, no matter what language they speak. Most people assume English is my strongest, but really, I move between three languages and three ways of seeing the world.
