I'm Julia Ramirez and I live in Barcelona. I have a degree in Translation and Interpreting and Ted is my way of learning and improving my subtitling skills. I have a Translation and IT Company called Meraclic Solutions and I am the main translator and proofreader.

Over the years, I have discovered that I love finding new areas to learn from, I don't like feeling stuck in knowledge. I love reading, watching conferences and listening to podcasts (feminism, history, social issues...). I love travelling and eating, because it allows me to learn about other cultures and approaches. I have also recently learned that I love meditating, as it gives me calm and time for reflection.

I learned about TED when I was an English student, during my teenage years. I found very interesting talks that helped me ease in many topics. A few years later, I found out that I could volunteer subtitling and proof-reading talks in my own mothertongue and I thought it was a beautiful way to give Catalan a boost in international websites. At the same time, it allowed me to practice and improve my subtitling skills. I have now been subtitling for more than four years and I intend to keep learning about different topics whilst I subtitle!
