Bio

Hi! I’m Cesar. Growing up, I have always had a fascination with languages and the cultures they embody. For me, language is not just about words, but about the meaning and connections they create. As an aspiring Spanish translator, my inspiration comes from my experiences translating for my parents. I want to be the help people need, bridging communication gaps and bringing people closer together through accurate and culturally nuanced translations. During my Spanish Translation Internship, I worked closely with Dr. Claire Ziamandanis, our supervisor. Over 120 hours, I translated various documents for actual clients, either assigned by Dr. Ziamandanis or sought out individually. My translation work included business memos, documents for hospitals and schools, and websites for elementary schools and music programs. All translations were from English to Spanish. I ensured the timely delivery of high-quality translations with the aid of peer reviewers and Dr. Ziamandanis. Additionally, I have experience in other types of translation such as the translation of letters, menus, and fan pages from Spanish to English. I have also explored translation independently, working on websites for video game fan pages. In addition to my internship, I volunteer as a translator for CYS, providing interpreting services. This experience allowed me to develop my translation and interpreting skills further, contribute to helping bridge communication gaps, and support the vulnerable. As for my skills, I have experience with CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools, including CafeTran and OmegaT. I utilized these tools during my internship and translation course, enhancing my efficiency and accuracy in translation tasks. My goal for employment is to build a career in the field of translation, where I can apply my language skills and passion for bridging communication gaps. I am eager to continue developing my expertise in translating and aim to become a professional translator. Additionally, I have a strong interest in the field of education. I find the idea of working as a teacher, teacher's assistant or tutor to be both fulfilling and meaningful. I would love to contribute to the learning process by supporting students in their educational journey, helping them understand complex concepts, and nurturing their academic growth. My dual interests in translation and education reflect my commitment to fostering understanding and knowledge across different languages and cultural contexts.
