Bio

From a scientific perspective, I am a highly motivated researcher with a robust background and extensive experience in the mining and renewable energy sectors. My professional journey has equipped me with a diverse skill set through comprehensive on-site fieldwork and detailed laboratory analyses. Over the years, I have honed my expertise primarily in geothermal-related studies, encompassing various disciplines, including geothermal exploration, project management, mineral resource assessments, geological mapping, and water resources analysis. In my geothermal exploration endeavors, I have successfully led and contributed to numerous projects to identify and harness geothermal resources. My project management skills have been instrumental in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within scope, and on budget. Additionally, my experience in mineral resource assessments has enabled me to evaluate the potential and viability of various geological formations, ensuring sustainable and profitable extraction methods. Geological mapping has been another cornerstone of my career. I have meticulously charted and analyzed geological features to support mining and renewable energy projects. My proficiency in water resources analysis further complements my geothermal expertise, allowing me to assess and manage the critical interplay between water systems and geothermal energy production. I am confident in my ability to execute assignments effectively within these specialized areas. My collaborative approach and dedication to scientific excellence ensure I can contribute positively to any project team. My goal is to leverage my extensive knowledge and skills to advance the fields of mining and renewable energy, driving innovation and sustainability in these critical sectors.

I'm passionate about

I have a keen interest in Postcrossing, an online project that connects people around the world through the exchange of postcards. The idea is simple: for every postcard you send, you receive one back from a random person globally. This initiative fosters cultural exchange and global understanding. The Postcrossing community is diverse, with members from numerous countries sharing postcards that feature scenic views, local landmarks, artistic expressions, and personal themes. It is a delightful and educational way to learn about different places and cultures while enjoying the traditional pleasure of receiving physical mail. Additionally, I am passionate about renewable energy. My interest in energy-related research began during my bachelor's studies. I chose to study geology at university to gain a deeper understanding of earth sciences. Over time, I became more involved in renewable energy projects, mainly focusing on geothermal energy. Even as I pursue my PhD, I remain dedicated to this field. Although my contributions may seem small compared to the larger community, I find fulfillment in being part of the effort to develop sustainable energy solutions.

An idea worth spreading

I want to share some insights on mental health from my experiences. Managing multiple roles in life is undeniably challenging. While some navigate daily activities with ease, many struggle. To those facing such difficulties, I understand and stand with you. I have felt the relentless pressure of balancing a demanding job, family responsibilities, and personal commitments. Recognizing and accepting stress is crucial, though not accessible. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a courageous and necessary action. If overwhelmed, do not hesitate to reach out for support. Embracing your situation, whether it involves a high-pressure job or personal challenges, and asking for help when needed is vital for well-being. Accepting your circumstances and moving forward involves acknowledging stress and actively managing it. By sharing this message, I hope to spread the idea that mental health requires resilience, support, and self-compassion. We can foster a community where seeking help is encouraged, vulnerability is strength, and mutual support is paramount.

The TED story

My journey into languages and translation began unexpectedly. Although I now speak four languages and am learning a fifth, my interest in foreign languages didn't start until middle school. Growing up in a small city with limited language learning opportunities, I only began exploring them later in life. My native language is Bahasa Indonesia, and I am highly proficient in English. I also have a working knowledge of Japanese and French. As a PhD student, balancing academic and personal well-being is challenging. Watching TED videos has comforted me, though I never imagined becoming a translator. My entry into translation began by chance when I was asked to assist with a TED project. To my surprise, I found translation work soothing and beneficial for my mental health, providing focus and reducing anxiety. Although new to the field, I have developed a genuine love for translating and transcribing. While not overly demanding, these tasks offer a unique sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Each completed task feels like a personal reward and affirmation. This work has been immensely fulfilling, contributing to my professional growth and well-being. I look forward to continuing this journey and embracing the rewards of each project.

Things you might not know

I have always been modest about my abilities, often seeing myself as someone who does things adequately rather than exceptionally. There isn't anything I find completely beyond my reach or something I can master without effort. I believe in the importance of continuous learning and often require formal instruction, especially when it comes to languages, where I can excel with the right guidance. One area where I know I excel is multitasking. As a full-time student, wife, mother, and individual, I have honed the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Prioritizing tasks can be challenging, but I usually find my balance after taking some time for myself. My closest friends describe me as a good listener and a helpful person. While I may not always see myself that way, it is heartening to know that I can positively impact others.
