I’m Madina Sattorova, and my passion for languages, especially translation, drives me to constantly improve in the field. While I sometimes feel challenged, I remain committed to mastering translation and using it to bridge cultures and connect people globally. In addition to my academic pursuits, I’ve participated in several leadership and development programs that have helped shape my outlook. Programs like Leaders of Tomorrow and Aspire Leaders gave me the opportunity to refine my leadership abilities, while also connecting me with inspiring individuals from different backgrounds. I’ve been a part of impactful initiatives, including the WomanUp Training of Trainers, where I learned to mentor others and contribute to community projects. I’ve also participated in international discussions through projects like Chatham Summer School, which focused on tackling global issues and fostering cross-cultural understanding. These experiences have broadened my perspective, allowing me to grow not only as a student of languages but also as someone deeply involved in social initiatives. I’m determined to continue balancing my love for translation with my passion for leadership and social engagement, striving to make a meaningful impact wherever I go.

I am passionate about volunteering and helping others in my free time. It gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment to support those in need and contribute positively to society. I also enjoy participating in leadership projects where I can apply both hard and soft skills to make meaningful contributions to my community and beyond. My goal is to create lasting change, not just for the people around me, but also on a larger scale. Whether it’s through small acts of service or larger initiatives, I believe that every effort counts toward making the world a better place.

An idea I think is worth spreading is the issue of toxic positivity, especially in Central Asian cultures where it's often overlooked. People tend to confuse toxic positivity with normal positivity, leading to pressure on themselves or others to constantly put on a happy face and hide their true emotions. What’s concerning is that many don’t even realize the harm this creates. By forcing positivity, we deny ourselves the opportunity to process negative feelings, which in turn can harm our mental health and affect how we trust others and interact with our environment. This problem needs to be addressed seriously because, in the long run, it can create emotional suppression and reduce our ability to connect authentically with those around us. Recognizing the difference between healthy optimism and toxic positivity is crucial to fostering a mentally healthy community where emotions are validated rather than dismissed.

My TED story began when I was just 14 years old. At that time, I was starting to learn English, and watching videos on the TEDx platform helped me improve my skills while exposing me to a wide range of topics presented by professionals. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to volunteer for TEDxBUT and speak at TEDxUWED. These experiences deepened my involvement in organizing events and fueled my commitment to sharing my story with the world. My talk focused on "fangirl power," shedding light on how fans can sometimes be misunderstood or underestimated. It resonated with many, and I was thrilled to see people empathize with that perspective. Additionally, I started volunteering for TED by working on translations, which further connected me to this incredible community. I take great pride in being part of TED, as it allows me to engage with ideas that inspire change and foster connection.

Many people don’t realize just how skilled I am at translating, both in reading and in translating various works, whether oral or written. I've been doing this for over two years, and it’s become something I genuinely enjoy. I approach translation with both passion and efficiency, often completing tasks in a timely manner while maintaining quality. This ability not only allows me to engage with diverse texts but also helps me connect with others through language.
