Bio

I'm Erdal Yilmaz, Head of Academics at Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) and the organizer of TEDxNTICAujaYouth. My journey in education has been all about creating meaningful learning environments — ones that go beyond exams and inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong growth. At NTIC, I work closely with students, teachers, and school leaders to build academic systems that are future-ready. From leading teacher development initiatives to integrating technology into classrooms, my focus has always been on raising the bar for what education can achieve. As a TEDxYouth organizer, I see the platform as more than just a stage — it's a movement to amplify young voices and big ideas. I believe education should be bold, inclusive, and transformative — and that's exactly what we're building, one step at a time.

I'm passionate about

I'm passionate about creating meaningful educational experiences that go beyond the classroom. I believe in empowering both students and teachers through innovation, mentorship, and vision-driven leadership. Whether it's integrating technology into learning or curating platforms like TEDxYouth to amplify young voices, my passion lies in building an education system that inspires, challenges, and transforms.

An idea worth spreading

Education must evolve from routine instruction to a transformative experience that empowers students to think, create, and lead. When we treat education not just as a system, but as a movement — driven by vision, empathy, and innovation — we don’t just prepare young people for exams, we prepare them for life.

The TED story

TED has always represented something bigger than a talk — it’s a platform where ideas become movements. As an educator and school leader, I’ve spent years building systems that help students succeed, but I’ve also seen how much potential goes unheard simply because it lacks a stage. That’s why I brought TEDx to our school — not just to host an event, but to create a space where young people, educators, and changemakers can be seen and heard. TEDxNTICAujaYouth is more than a program — it’s our voice, our ideas, our time to shape the future of education, leadership, and innovation in Nigeria. This is my TED story — one rooted in purpose, driven by people, and powered by the belief that ideas, when shared, can truly change everything.

Things you might not know

People don't know I'm good at spotting potential in people before they see it in themselves. Whether it's a quiet student with a spark or a teacher with untapped creativity, I enjoy mentoring others and helping them rise. I’m also quite good at bringing structure to big, messy ideas — and turning them into clear plans that actually work.
