Bio

Born and raised in a bilingual household where Italian and Romanian were spoken, my passion for languages ignited early on. At the age of six, I began my journey in language acquisition by delving into the of English language, eventually attaining native proficiency. In 2015, I embarked on a new chapter of my life in England, where I immersed myself in the culture and diversity of the country. After completing high school, I pursued my academic endeavors at the University of Leeds, graduating with honors in Arabic and Portuguese, and achieving top marks in both disciplines. My journey into the world of translation began during my high school years, where I honed my skills in French, English, and Spanish through academic pursuits and personal experiences. Venturing into language instruction, I embraced the role of an English teacher in Spain, deepening my understanding of the Spanish language and culture. Subsequently, I embarked on a life chapter in Germany, where I resided for 1.5 years, mastering the German language and assimilating into the local community. Upon returning to the UK, I transitioned into the field of recruitment, leveraging my proficiency in German as a Recruitment researcher. However, my passion for language and communication drew me back to the realm of translation. With prior experience as an interpreter for esteemed organizations, I recognised the profound impact of written translation in conveying information across linguistic and cultural boundaries. Driven by a desire for continuous growth and learning, I immersed myself in volunteer work for TED Talks. I also am delving into diverse fields including medical, the gaming industry, subtitling, mental health, and tourism. Through these experiences, I have honed my skills in subtitle translation and other forms of textual interpretation, embracing each opportunity as a catalyst for personal and professional development. As I continue to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of translation during my Masters in Applied Translation and volunteering, I remain committed to excellence, leveraging my multilingual background and diverse experiences to bridge gaps and foster meaningful connections in an interconnected world.

I'm passionate about

My passions are definetely multiple. I love spreading awareness of mental health conditions, as well as ways to face challenges related to trauma. I am also incredibly passionate about music: from singing to playing the keyboard and dancing around, music has accompanied me through life since the early years. Gaming is a recent passion of mine, developed thanks to my partner. It actually allows you to think outside the box, be creative and focus on solutions rather than problems! The whole world of healthcare has been my bread and butter since I was a child. Both of my parents worked in a hospital and this influenced my knowledge in the field. This curiosity turned into passion. Of course travelling and tourism have been part of my life. Essential, I would say. Visited many countries and tried my best to actually be a part of them, not just passing by.

An idea worth spreading

-Embracing Multilingualism: Building Bridges Across Cultures- By championing the transformative power of multilingualism, you can inspire individuals to embrace linguistic diversity, celebrate cultural differences, and work towards a more inclusive and harmonious world where languages catalyze positive change and meaningful connections. Being native is not always the answer to translation needs. It is the expertise, the passion and the desire to do more that characterise a valuable translator.

The TED story

Joined Ted in 2023. Although I did not have the chance to participate a lot last year, I challenge myself even in projects that require translating from both a foreign language and into a foreign language of mine. Ted is about finding the most appropriate solutions to spread and convey ideas correctly. I am up for the challenge and value a lot this volunteering opportunity.
