Bio

I'm Wulan, an Indonesian native who is passionate about teaching languages and traveling the world. I just did a backpacking journey through Eastern Europe after spending over a year in Latin America. I'm always looking for new experiences and learning about different cultures. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time outdoors. I'm also a big fan of TED Talks and I'm always looking for new ideas to learn and share.

I'm passionate about

Teaching, things related to: languages, nature, plants.

An idea worth spreading

If we want to build empathy, we need to go where we can't speak—and start listening instead.

The TED story

“I cried when I arrived in Mexico—then I cried even harder when I left.” When I first arrived in Mexico, I just wanted to cry. My Spanish was terrible. I couldn’t understand people. I didn’t know where I was going—or which areas were unsafe. I felt completely lost. And yet... that’s where it all began. I thought traveling would be all happiness and sunshine—like a postcard. But the reality? I got cheated. I got hungry. I got lost. I misunderstood and got misunderstood. It was uncomfortable, unpredictable, and nothing like I imagined. But then I pushed myself to learn Spanish. I made friends with locals. I started to understand their jokes, their struggles, their generosity. Somewhere along the way, I stopped feeling like a foreigner and started feeling like I belonged. When I left Mexico, I cried again—but this time because it felt like I was leaving my own country behind. Travel didn’t just teach me geography. It taught me resilience, empathy, and trust. It showed me that the world is full of different people—but not strangers. Just people I haven’t connected with yet. My idea worth spreading? Go where you feel lost. Because that’s where you’ll find yourself.
