Bio
I'm Yosra, a translator from Tunisia working between Arabic, English, and French, with a BA in Translation from the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences of Sfax. Most of my work is into Arabic, across a range of content, and I subtitle in both Arabic and English. I also studied German and have a basic understanding of Italian. Outside of translation, I volunteer and enjoy giving back to my community, I think small actions add up.
An idea worth spreading
Language is a portal to another perspective and a way to visit other worlds. A translator is the bridge keeper who steadies your passage and carries tone, intent and nuance so the new world feels familiar and true.
The TED story
TED Talks have been a source of inspiration for me for a long time. Volunteering as a translator and subtitler felt like a way to give that back to Arabic- and English-speaking audiences.
