About Filipe

I am a…

Artist, Environmentalist, Filmmaker, Musician

Bio

After High school I started a degree in Physics engineering, but by the middle of the first semester i was in great need of and escapist type hobby, so i started making music. It didn't take much time to realize i really loved sound, and dropped the university. I spent the next two years taking a sound recording program, recording bands working in small theater plays and live sound. After i graduated, i started immediately working in Television fiction shows, as a boom operator and occasionally as a mixer, and dabbling in camera operating for music live shows. After two years i enrolled in the Vancouver Film School Sound design program, specializing in sound editing mixing, sound effects recording and foley. After a 6 month break, busy doing 2-4 week long bike rides, i got a scholarship from the Portuguese ministry of Culture, to go interning to a foreign country. I went to New York City as an intern to Harvestworks, a non profit that provides infrastructure and support to artists to complete their projects, mostly multi media, performance based work. As well as supporting the artists with their sound needs, i taught classes and workshops, gave technical support to classes workshops and performances, managed the sound studio's clients and ran many recording, editing and mixing stereo. 5.1 and 7.1 sessions. After seven months i returned to lisbon and continued working in Television.

I'm passionate about

I'm very, intensely passionate about movement. Invite me to do something that involves my body moving. I will go. If it involves heights, i will go very fast! And anything that involves music as well.

An idea worth spreading

My currently idea, that keeps nagging in my head...... Is that we need a single space or facility where you can go and have different practices for your wish of the day..... Today i want to do yoga, today i want to do capoeira, today i want to do jiu jitsu, today i want to dance or just hang from stuff, or walk around like a lizard. I believe that freedom to have such variety of movement possibilities, it's really important for physical fitness, as well as mental stability and a practice of injury prevention.
