The TED story
In 2020, one of my best friend who used to be the happiest and sweetest girl in high school was diagnosed with depression. She was having a really hard time then, feeling confused and directionless as she didn't know what went wrong and how exactly to improve her quality of life. Aside from medical treatments and counseling, we did plenty of researches in attempt to discover more methods and knowledge to change the situation. According to her words, one of the resources that inspired and helped her the most during her recovery, was the TED talk “What makes a good life? - Lessons from the longest study on happiness” from Robert Waldinger (which I sent her randomly). That was when I fully realized how powerful ideas and stories could be, and how important it is to share, as there could be someone in the world needing the exact mindset desperately.
That simple thought drove me to join the translation program, and even as an individual with limited time and influences, I do believe that becoming one of the contributors could allow me to leverage the impact of TED talks, and thus help more beautiful minds in my community for years to come.
