Bio
Reem Alattas is a technology expert and human right activist based in New York, United States. Originally from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Reem earned her M.S. in computer sciences from the King Saud University where she developed a novel image thresholding algorithm for skin cancer detection in MRI images. The results validate that the proposed method is efficient for oil spell detection in SAR images as well.
Reem started working for Microsoft Arabia as the first female Technical Account Manager, where she opened the door for gender diversity, before eventually relocating to the United States, where she is furthering her education as a Computer Science and Engineering Ph.D. student at University of Bridgeport, CT.
Reem is passionate about technology and robotics, especially evolutionary robotics that can self-assemble and self-reconfigure, 3D printing applications in the fashion tech industry, and Internet of Things. Also, she is a fervent human right activist, particularly focusing on women's and children rights and harnessing technical solutions to improve people’s lives.
