About Gisele Cristina

I am a…

Concerned citizen, Global soul, Parent

Bio

I see myself as a translator by vocation. I always remember myself as being passionate about languages and fascinated by communicating using a language that is not mine. When I was five years old, I remember watching a random documentary only to listen to the narrator's voice in English, while paying attention to the translated subtitles in Portuguese and trying to repeat what I had just heard. But for some time I put this passion on hold to take care of my family while we moved to several countries. Now that maternity came to a point of equilibrium, where I can share my time with my beloved littles ones and my career with parsimony, I want to give voice, in my country, to those who have so much knowledge to share, and can make a real impact in the lives of the less favoured people in Brazil. I want to help TED to spread the good word about science, psychology, about how to break taboos and give my people hope.

I'm passionate about

My family, languages, translation, yoga, confronting old school ideas

An idea worth spreading

LGBTQA+ did not chose to be born the way they are. Women are as good as men in anything they decide to be. Children learn prejudice, but are born without it.

The TED story

Learning while giving something back to humanity. Is there anything better than this? This is why I want to contribute forever to TED by translating content.
