Sibila Thompson grew up in Sydney, Australia and, as the daughter of German parents, is completely bilingual. After completing an arts/law degree at the University of Sydney, Sibila worked in Sydney as a solicitor for several years before moving to Germany. Initially she worked as an adviser on common law for a law firm in Frankfurt, where a portion of her time was spent translating contracts and many other kinds of documents for her clients – so a love of translation was born. She then became state-certified as an English-German translator and continued to translate freelance for over 10 years, even while working as in-house counsel for the largest global consulting company. Finally, Sibila decided it was time to head back to the sunshine so, with her husband and two daughters, she moved back to Sydney where she is now dividing her time between various projects, including a renewed heightened focus on translating. When she is not working, she loves to cook, draw and paint, and go to the beach.
