Bio
TEDxSnoIsleLibraries provides awesome opportunities to present a library without walls. I am working with a great team to organize and deliver our fourth major TEDxSnoIsleLibraries event in 2020.
Because of COVID-19, we've pivoted and moving each talk and speaker online and will present their pre-recorded talks and engage each speaker in conversation afterwards.
Sno-Isle Libraries has a great mission empowering hundreds of thousands of library customers to inquire, explore, learn and benefit from ideas, knowledge and wisdom available through information. This two-county organization serves residents through 23 community libraries, mobile library services and online.
It is rare that success is earned entirely on your own. I have enjoyed working with very smart and visionary leaders, as part of dedicated executive and management teams, and alongside talented co-workers. Together we have worked to make the seemingly impossible possible.
That was certainly true of TEDxSnoIsleLibraries 2015, 2016, and 2017. We worked with a dedicated team of staff, partners, contractors and volunteers to deliver an event which continues to draw rave reviews and comments!
Special thanks to Paul Pitkin (Executive Director of our fiscal agent, the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation), Phil Klein (TEDx guru, fellow speaker coach and event manager), our team which worked behind the scene to support all of our speaker coaches and our incredible speakers over the years.
Because of the vision, commitment and sacrifices of others, I enjoy the blessings of liberty and responsibility. And I feel it is my responsibility to walk worthy of the sacrifices others have made to enable, equip, and empower me to be a responsible, capable, and compassionate person. My goal is to leave this planet a better place for those who walk the path beside me or trail after me.
I'm passionate about
Passionately curious about 97.3% of everything in the universe. Bringing light to dark matter. Privacy in the age of exposure. Cultivating the edges of risk and opportunity. The layered, reasoned nature of existence and beautiful, intelligent design around, within, and beyond us.
An idea worth spreading
Idea 1: Privacy is disappearing and the desire/need for privacy is becoming seen as anti-social, suspicious and dangerous. Idea 2: As we move beyond brain-mapping towards telepathic technologies, we are breaching the limits on personal exposure. We need to devise parallel protective technology or enable human potential so there can be the ability to shield the essential core parts of ourselves from observation, intrusion, exposure and violation. This will allow us to think, explore, fail, learn, grow, mature and transform over time without fear/consequences of constant censure and punishment.
The TED story
Our TEDxSnoIsleLibraries events have been amazing experiences and every year we hear our region ask if we will do it again! So gratifying to continue to hear how many have been impacted by the experience.
