I was born in Eskisehir, Turkey. I enrolled in "Military High School" and graduated with "Military Training Success Sign" and "Discipline Certificate of Appreciation". But then I decided not to become an officer and dropped out from "Military Academy", instead I wanted to become an engineer and a scientist. :) I was interested in materials science since I was a little kid without knowing that it is called the "materials science"... So I enrolled in a "Materials Science and Engineering" program and got my B.Sc. degree and pursued M.Sc. in nano-technology (PVD coatings and AFM mainly). Furthermore, I also work as a manufacturing engineer in an automotive company in which I get the chance to learn about machining, heat treatment, equipment design and project management. I am trying to get involved in TED projects as much as possible, mostly by translations and subtitling...

I just ended up in TED.com by coincidence while I was surfing, trying to find something useful and inspiring at the same time for my "Materials in Practice" course project. Now I see that this was one of the best coincidences I have ever had in my life...
