Bio
“Leo” Liu, an eighth grader enrolled at Brimmer and May School (Massachusetts), came to the United States from Hong Kong in 2020. He's still in his first year in the U.S., and this has been an exciting and eventful time in both the country he left from, and the country he's entered. The reason that he came to the U.S from Hong Kong is to put ideas in actions in place that he believes can change the world; it is his belief that the world’s youth are the key to change and he is fully prepared to help lead as much as he can. For this reason, he started the Middle School Debate Club in 2021 at his school to let more people discuss their ideas, their vision of the world, and talk about the bigger picture about everything that is happening now in the U.S and what will happen in the future. His dream is to provide young people a stage to talk about their ideas and discuss what the future should be like for the younger generation.
Leo is an advisory board member at the Newton Youth Commission, which helps encourage, support, and protect the youth in the city that he is living in. In 2021, he placed Fourth in the MJDJ Tourney 1 for best speaker, an award that he is extremely proud of, having only lived in the United States for a year with English as his second language. Right now, as the president of his school senate, he believes that the stagnant “now” will never end if the voice of the younger generation isn't heard by the older generation. Leo was selected as a TEDx Speaker at TEDxEustis 2022 conference, and he is also the Founder, Director & CEO of, team Super Meteors, an AAU basketball team in his community, which he founded to ensure the local kids will have a place to play basketball if they want it.
In his spare time, he loves to write! Which he is a current Researcher & Journalist for The Cubix.
Leo lives by the following stance: Everyone is an educator in their own different way, and teaching is the most important job in the world. They are the lighthouses that guide the youth, and they are the people who are entitled to help the youth to change the world.

An idea worth spreading
In 2021, there are many conflicts happening between generations, especially Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X, on a regular basis. The source of these arguments is easy to find: The technological innovations made in just the last 30 years have ensured that children born in that time will be living fundamentally different lives than their parents could have ever dreamed of in their youths. I have started to call this phenomenon the world generational divide, and believe that education is the strongest weapon we have to combat it. Teenagers are 13% of our population, but 100% of our future, and they have just as much of a right as the older generation for their voices to be heard. People say that young people are the future, but the older generation plays an equally important role in controlling this future and both sides of this divide have to be reconciled. The goal of the ideas that I propose here is for both generations to understand the generational division that is happening now, and as a result benefit from hearing my ideas about how to solve this.
