An idea worth spreading
Successful language studies depend first of all on motivation. Many people don't succeed in learning a foreign language because they lack real (!) motivation rooted in personal interest. If you study for your everyday need or an interest that can not be satisfied without being acquainted with a certain language, that will give you real motivation. Studying foreign languages is a field that demonstrates painfully well the 'use it or lose it' rule of knowledge and skills. How long does it take for somebody in love to learn the language of the beloved one? How long does it take for an expat to learn the language of the recipient country? Have you ever felt the urge to learn a language because a book of your favourite author isn't translated to your language? This kind of real motivation gives extra momentum to foreign language studies.
