Bio

I graduated in medicine at Universidade Federal do Amazonas in 2007. Then I started the residency program in Anesthesiology which I have concluded in February 2011. Since then I have been working as anesthesiologist in many public hospitals in Manaus, state of Amazonas, Brazil. In January 2012 I started a career as Anesthesiology professor at Medical School in Universidade Federal do Amazonas where I also have been working with medical education through simulation in healthcare.

I'm passionate about

I'm passionate about travelling, reading, knowing other cultures, spending time with my family and spreading ideas which make everyone's life better.

An idea worth spreading

Nowadays in my country it's common sense that our society has a need of humanizing Medicine and there's a lot pressure over doctors not to just do their best at making diagnosis and treating diseases but to develop more empathy with their patients, which is noble and truly a necessity. But what should also be a common sense and, at least in my country, it seems not to be is that in life you can't give if you haven't already received. In other words, the studies shows that doctors all around the world are under constant stress because of the need to produce more in less time, to study continuously, to work long hours, to have sleep deprivation and financial or legal issues, which has led to high incidence of burnout syndrome among them. So, why don't we humanize medicine by taking care of our medical students and doctors as part of our educational and medical system? Why don't take care of our doctors emotional health to support a healthier doctor-patient relationship?
