As a graduate of the Public, Literary and Scientific-Technical Translation from the University of Belgrano, I was trained with several specializations. The broad scope of my studies allows me to understand and translate the content, as well as the social and cultural implications, of a wide variety of texts. A translator should only translate into his or her mother tongue. I am what some refer to as “a third culture child” which means that I was raised in a different culture than my parents and, therefore, I have a different mother tongue than my parents. However, I have always spoken Spanish at home and received professional training in Spanish-speaking countries. For this reason, and after having gained this experience during my freelance career, I can translate into both English and Spanish. This is an important asset that many companies are in dire need of. My first experience as a professional translator was while I was at university. In 2017, I was selected to complete an internship at the COPLA Coalition. This coalition aims to create a Latin American and Caribbean Criminal Court against Organized Crime. During this internship, I translated a large number of legal texts for governments and senior officials of different countries. The COPLA Coalition works together with the Campaign for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly, so I also translated texts related to the need for reform of the UN parliamentary system. In 2018, I was also selected an internship for the NGO “Response for Peace” where I translated Cambridge financial texts for students of the University of Buenos Aires. During this year as a freelancer, I have had many experiences that contributed to my training as a translator. I started as a bilingual assistant and virtual interpreter for Lawgena Lawyers based in Boston, USA. I translated legal texts that allowed me to learn more about the judicial system in the United States. I am currently a freelance translator for Farhat Advanced Interpreting and Jarrard and Associates in the United States. These companies commission me to translate everything from church pamphlets to safety manuals and sales presentations. At the same time, I work as a video game translator for Lilith Games in Shanghai, China. Lilith Games entrusts me with translation tasks more closely linked to localization and literary translations. The NGO “War and Peace Reporting” has hired me a freelance translator for journalistic and informative texts. Lastly, recently translation internship at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, D.C. which is taught me different translation methods which are commonly used in international organizations and foreign ministries. One of my favorite experiences is the one granted to me by the Center for the Study of State and Society (CEDES) in Argentina. More than a year ago, this center hired me as a freelance translator and gave me the opportunity to translate medical research, institutional proposals, scientific reports, health projects and more. I translated all the material for the ATICA Project, including the renovation of the website which is not yet available and subtitles for the videos on the official Youtube channel. From this last experience, my desire to focus on scientific and technical translation was born.
