The TED story

A severe, life-threatening, illness at the age of five held me back one year from entering school and later made me an "outsider" due to my tinyness. Over the years I have built up the capability to immerse amongst different groups of interest (at the same time). A few years ago, during my first International System Dynamics Conference in Nijmegen 2006, I learned that this role is called "boundary spanner". Bringing simple to implement solutions to present problems it appeared useful to know a large and diverse network of people in various fields. During the floodings in Dresden in the summer of 2002, this got me appointed to become the project manager of the crisis first response center within the City of Dresden. The internet had back then slowly emerged into the business and everyday's life. In 2003 I was invited to join the team for building up the new BMW Plant Leipzig. Virtual and real-life collaboration using the most appropriate tools brought the team together in order to put up the best, most productive and fastest built up plant in the network.
