Bio

Born in 1984 in Warsaw. For about ten years I was an active member of Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (in the end I was the leader of a Cub Scouts and Brownie Girls Scouts Pack). In high school and a year after graduating I was a volunteer in the local community centre and helped organising monthly events for families from the neighbourhood. Between 2003 and 2008 I studied Cultural Studies at the University of Warsaw. After two years' break I got back to the university and studied Professional Translation (English and German). I graduated in 2013 (BA Certificate). In October I am starting MA studies in Applied Linguistics (Professional Translation, English and German again). In the meantime I have gathered some working experience: In 2003 I translated several press releases for Amnesty International (EN> PL) Between 2008 and 2012 I worked as a journalist in a Polish monthly "Forum Samorzadowe" addressed to the local and regional authorities around the coountry. I also translated some interviews with the representatives of the local authorities abroad (EN>PL and DE>PL) In July 2012 I completed a translation traineeship in Intertext, a Translation Agency in Warsaw. For years I have cooperated with the Group of Schools No. 26 in Warsaw - have done numerous translations concerning the history of world war II (DE>PL and EN>PL) and helped organising historical exhibitions on the premises of the school At the moment I run my own blog concerning everything about lace and lace making - for the time being it is in Polish only.

I'm passionate about

textile arts and everything connected with textiles. Lace making is my most important hobby. I conduct research in lace (history of lace and lace making, lace design etc.) in my free time

An idea worth spreading

the idea of preservation and promotion of old lace making techniques (also other old crafts)

Areas of expertise
