I am a freelance translator and subtitler who puts heart and soul in every project that comes into my hands. My pair is English to Spanish. As I was born in Cuba, my Spanish variant is Latin American but I usually translate into standard Spanish. I specialize in technical documents in technology and engineering where my on-field experience in Telecommunications, PC hardware and software, renewable energy, networks, access control, medical equipment, and data management as a Senior Engineer on Electronics, gives me a much-needed edge when dealing with these kinds of texts. I enjoy and have experience in general translations as well in such fields as religion, medical care, pharmaceuticals, tourism, marketing, beauty products, sports, and many others. As for subtitling, I have built a solid experience in foreign translation of subtitles working in audiovisuals created for almost every conceivable industry. As a self-employed freelance worker since 2013, I have learned to develop consistent methods and organize my work and time while meeting tight deadlines. I estimate I have translated more than 300 000 words so far. I value consistency and quality above all which, coupled with excellent computer skills, gives my work a high standard of professionalism. I use CAT tools whenever requested, particularly SDL Trados 2017, to ensure consistency in my texts. I am currently collaborating with Day Translations, Mars Translations, Motaword and Translators Without Borders as remote English to Spanish freelance translator. I am also doing subtitling translation at Pequerrecho Subtitulación (Spain), TEDxTalks (USA) and Flitto.com (Korea) where I have translated more than 3500 minutes of video content. In this activity, I have used software such as Aegisub, Atlas, Subtitles Workshop, and Subtitle Edit.
