Bio

I'm a full-time daydreamer, a romantic soul who believes in Karma. I'm stubborn, empathetic, sensitive, determined, reliable, precise. Languages are my whole life. I studied English, French and Spanish in High School, then I graduated in Arabic at University and got a First Level Master Degree in Literary and Editorial Translation from Arabic to Italian. I went on three study holidays in the United Kingdom to improve my English skills and I've recently obtained a C1/CAE Cambridge Certificate. I've also just passed a B2 level exam in French at the Institut Français of Naples. I am passionate about communication and words in general. My latest studies have focused not only on translation, but also on revision of translated texts and learning of subtitling techniques. I had several traineeships in the editorial and media field, translating for the UNRIC and two important movie festivals in Italy. During lockdown, I dedicated my freetime on some courses for translators, such as "La Bottega dei Traduttori" Webinars, focused on translation of enogastronomic texts or tourist guides, quality assurance in technical translation and the online promotion of a translator, and the "Getting Started as a Freelance Translator" Workshop by Corinne McKay, focused on translators specialisations, marketing and managing of one's own presence on the web as a freelance. In the meantime, I started my adventure as a TED translator too, hoping to enhance my linguistic abilities (while having fun!).

I'm passionate about

Books, travel, music, tv series and movies, art, everything beautiful. I constantly try to stay informed about every political, social and economic change in the world and to act in an anti-racist, feminist, inclusive way everyday, reminding myself and others that our way of thinking and speaking shapes the world and future generations.

An idea worth spreading

“Learn a new language and get a new soul.” "Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer." "That's the thing about books, they let you travel without moving your feet." "Romantic doesn't mean sugary. It's dark and tormented, the furor of passion, the despair of an idealism that you can't attain." "In life, we grow up and we encounter the nuanced complexities of trying to figure out who to be, how to act, or how to be happy. Like invisible smoke in the room, we wonder what kind of anxiety pushes you forward and what kind ruins your ability to find joy in your life. We constantly question our choices, our surroundings, and we beat ourselves up for our mistakes. All the while, we crave romance. We long for those rare, enchanting moments when things just fall into place. Above all else, we really, really want our lives to be filled with love. I've decided that in this life, I want to be defined by the things I love- not the things I hate, the things I'm afraid of, or the things that haunt me in the middle of the night. Those things may be struggles, but they're not my identity. I wish the same for you. May your struggles become inaudible background noise behind the loud, clergies voices of those who love and appreciate you. Turn those voices up in the mix in your head. May you take notice of the things in your life that are nice and make you feel safe and maybe even find wonderment in them. May you write down your feelings and reflect on them years later, only to learn all the trials and the tribulations you thought might kill you... didn't. I hope that someday you forget the pain ever existed. I hope that if there is a lover in your life, it's someone who deserves you. If that's the case, I hope you treat them with care. We are what we love." "Words can break someone into a million pieces, but they can also put them back together. I hope you use yours for good, because the only words you’ll regret more than the ones left unsaid are the ones you use to intentionally hurt someone. What you say might be too much for some people. Maybe it will come out all wrong and you’ll stutter and you’ll walk away embarrassed, wincing as you play it all back in your head. But I think the words you stop yourself from saying are the ones that will haunt you the longest. So say it to them. Or say it to yourself in the mirror. Say it in a letter you’ll never send or in a book millions might read someday. I think you deserve to look back on your life without a chorus of resounding voices saying ‘I could’ve, but it’s too late now.’"

The TED story

I always watch TED videos with interest, I find them funny and instructive at the same time. At the moment, I've translated an interesting French video on the current toxic standards of feminine beauty, which is attending approval to be published in Italian.

Things you might not know

Fighting for who/what I love and defending what I believe in. I look quiet but I know how to speak for myself.
