Berenice Cocciolillo

I was born in Italy, but grew up in New York City. I hold a Bachelor's degree in romance languages and a Master's in Italian literature from New York University. I teach Italian language at John Cabot University, where I am also Coordinator of Web Communications. Before joining JCU in 1992, I taught Italian at various American universities including NYU, Pace University, and Hunter College of the City of New York. I also worked as an interpreter at the United States Department of State and as a translator at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations. Since moving back to Italy in 1990, I worked for several years as a free-lance journalist, writing about many aspects of Italian culture and politics. I continue to work as a translator, specializing in poetry and literary criticism. I am one of the founders and organizers of InVerse, JCU's festival of Italian poetry in translation. My most challenging and rewarding job, however, is being the mother of two daughters. My main hobby is singing and I'm a member of the Soul Singers, a gospel music choir that performs benefit concerts in many Roman churches and theaters.
