About Alanna
Bio
I was born in Maranhão, the northern region of Brazil. But, as proud as I am to be Brazilian, I am a prouder Global Citizen. Studying English in England, eating with my own hands and teaching English to children with HIV in India, understanding different approaches to justice and conflict resolutions in Canada, applying Restorative Justice in Mozambique, and bringing light to lives in the slums and villages of Brazil and Kenya are only a few of my unique social experiences. Living in these distinct countries and cultures has taught me how to deal with differences, and showed me a passion for jobs with purpose. More than choosing to follow a career in the nonprofit sector, I chose to dedicate my life to making a positive change in the world. I am in a constant transition being where I believe I can serve a greater cause and empower others to do good. Since 2015, I've been on a journey to better understand the impact of Privileges (and the lack of them) on people's lives while also raising awareness about the importance of discussing the matter.
I'm passionate about
Social Innovation&Entrepreneurship. Youth Leadership Development. Social Justice. Women Empowerment. LGBTQRI rights.
An idea worth spreading
Privileges. Some people acknowledge its existence and associate them with injustices, shame, and guilty. Some people simply deny it. Others see in their privileges a responsibility to give back. Playing with Legos taught me how to reflect on my own privileges and build bridges with them.
