I am a…

Bio

I was born in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, in 1982. I celebrated my 10th birthday in a community basement; my hometown was under a siege and we could barely see the daylight. 7 months after the Balkans war started, I was rescued by a "wonder team", formed by the Red Cross and a beyond-courageous mother. Nowadays, my family is spread across 9 different countries and speak languages I haven't had time to learn yet (I am doing well, but I still have German and Italian to go). I studied, lived and laughed in Spain and the UK. I am a BA in Advertising and PR, MA in Communications and PR Management, MA in Education and I hold certifications as a Spanish Teacher by Instituto Cervantes and an English Teacher by CELTA Cambridge. I took language-related degrees because I am passionate about the evolution of language, and am developing a hypothesis on the notion of liquid language. After a near-death experience in Barcelona in 2010, as I was growing up all over again (see my contribution in "an idea worth spreading"), I turned to reading and studying in order to keep sane. Today, I am a certified Coach, a Coolhunter and a passionate Content Engineer (a Bilingual Writer and a Translator of 5 languages into Spanish, English and Catalan). I feel identified with the words "Observer" and "Path Finder" - I died, got back against all odds and for that reason, I will never walk in the dark again.

I'm passionate about

Writing, Psychology, Career Coaching, Art & Design, Language, Photography, Traveling.

An idea worth spreading

1)Tools for re-inventing oneself in times of crisis. When, how and most importantly, why it is essential to embrace change on the journey of life. 2)The pros and cons of growing up. Why there are certain facets of ourselves that we should never lose and others we should get rid of as soon as possible - After my accident, I woke up a 2-year old and have grown up to be my actual age again, over a period of nearly 3 years. I have been a child twice, with the difference being that I was able to observe myself and my process "from the outside" the second time around. I think it is a fascinating experience that can help people understand themselves, understand others and be better parents, friends and children.

The TED story

When I got out of the hospital in 2010, after exactly 80 days of documented but unremembered reality, the first thing I watched on a screen was Dr. Jill Bolte's "Stroke of Insight". It happened by mistake -my brother wanted to introduce me to the TED world and clicked on a random entry. I felt so identified, I broke into tears. I keep track of TED ever since.
